Amber Heard has taken a different path as Johnny Depp makes his return to Hollywood for the first time since their infamous defamation trial in 2019.
The lengthy court battle began after Heard accused Depp of domestic abuse in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.
Although Depp wasn’t directly named in the article, he filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard in 2019, claiming that his ex-wife’s allegations of domestic violence were “categorically and demonstrably false” (via The Independent).
Heard counter-sued Depp for $100 million, further fueling media attention around the trial.
In 2022, a jury ruled in favor of both Depp’s original lawsuit and one of Heard’s counterclaims. Depp was awarded $10.35 million in damages, while Heard received $2 million after winning one of her three counterclaims against her ex.

The actor was previously spotted in a small village in Mallorca, living under a pseudonym, and her IMDb page hasn’t listed any recent film credits since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023.
According to People Magazine, she later moved from Mallorca to Madrid. In a TikTok video, the actor, who is fluent in Spanish, told reporters that she “loves living” in Spain.
A source close to the outlet shared in November 2022 that Heard “is able to just be a mom there. She is focused on raising her daughter and spends every day with her. They stroll around, visit parks, and enjoy family time. Amber is a great mom.”

The actor is also expecting her second child, with a representative for the 38-year-old telling People in December last year: “It’s still early in the pregnancy, so we hope you understand that we don’t want to share too many details at this stage.
“Suffice to say, Amber is thrilled for both herself and Oonagh Paige.”
Meanwhile, Depp has made his return to Hollywood post-trial with Day Drinker, a film about a bartender working on a private yacht who encounters a mysterious guest and a criminal figure.

He had previously made his return to the big screen in Jeanne du Barry and is also directing his own film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, titled Modi.
