Father of 17-year-old son who died during track meet ‘attack’ speaks out after being escorted out of press conference

The father of a teenager who was stabbed at a track meet has spoken out after being removed from a press conference held by the family of his son’s alleged killer.

Austin Metcalf, 17, was fatally stabbed in the heart while attending the track and field championship at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco on April 2 with his younger brother, Hunter.

Reports suggest that Metcalf and 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony got into an argument over seating in the stands before the fatal attack.

Local police confirmed to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth that officers were called to the scene around 10 a.m. and stated, “Despite lifesaving efforts by police and fire personnel, including CPR and blood transfusions, the 17-year-old victim died.”

Metcalf’s father, Jeff, has since openly expressed his grief and shared his account of what transpired that morning.

According to NBC News, Frisco police arrested and charged Anthony, but later released him from jail, placing him under house arrest.
However, on Thursday, April 17, Metcalf admitted to attending a press conference held by the Anthony family, who expressed their intention to fight their son’s first-degree murder charge, claiming that lies had been spread about him.

At the conference, Anthony’s mother, Kala Hayes, addressed the “lies and false accusations” that had been made about them, particularly over the past week, claiming they had “put my family in danger.”

Anthony’s parents have previously argued that their son acted in self-defense when Metcalf allegedly attacked him.

However, when Jeff arrived, he said he felt “disrespected” after being escorted out of the conference by Dallas police.

He believed the situation should have unfolded differently, explaining that he wanted to pray with the family and present a united front.

“They should have called me up [to the front] and said, ‘We are so sorry. Our condolences.’ The only thing I would have said was, ‘Okay, can we pray together and show the world we’re united,'” he told The Post.

After attending the event, he and his ex-wife claimed they became victims of “swatting” pranks, which led to police showing up at their homes.

As a result, he claimed to have resigned from his real estate job to protect his colleague’s and clients’ safety.

The father said he’d hoped for an apology from the Anthony’s, but that did not happen.

Instead, he was told to leave by many people.

“I get a text. My phone’s blowing up. It’s the fing DA. He says, ‘Jeff, leave! Leave! Leave!’” Metcalf shared with the publication. “My ex-wife texts me: ‘Leave, leave, leave!’ They’ll call the cops if I don’t get the f out of there.”

After his visit to the conference, Minister Dominique Alexander, an activist with the Next Generation Action Network, called his presence “a disrespect to the dignity of his son.”

In response, Metcalf said, “After I leave, that Dominique… just gaslights the hell out of me. Says I’m disrespecting, I’m so disrespectful, I’m disrespecting the dignity of my son by showing up… and I’m just like whatever, dude. My character’s been assassinated. Or they’ve tried to assassinate my character.”

He continued, “This is my point: We’re both victims. My son’s dead. Their son will be in prison. But at the end of the day, [Karmelo] needs to be accountable for his actions.”

Alexander, who is representing Anthony and serving as the family’s spokesperson, allegedly has a criminal history that includes convictions on child abuse charges and allegations of domestic violence, according to Fox 4 Dallas.
