NBA Roundup: Cavaliers Set Franchise Record with 16th Consecutive Win

March 15 – Evan Mobley posted 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Darius Garland added 20 points and nine assists to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 133-124 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, securing their franchise-record 16th consecutive win.

With a 56-10 record, the Cavaliers, currently the best team in the NBA, also extended their winning streak on the road to 11 games.

De’Andre Hunter chipped in with 18 points and five rebounds, and Jarrett Allen contributed 16 points and six boards for Cleveland. The Cavaliers were without their leading scorer, Donovan Mitchell, who missed his second consecutive game due to a groin injury.

Ja Morant scored a season-high 44 points for the Memphis Grizzlies, but their four-game winning streak was snapped in the 133-124 loss to Cleveland. Jaren Jackson Jr. made his return after missing five games due to a sprained left ankle, finishing with 13 points.

Timberwolves 118, Magic 111
Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves with 28 points on 9-for-19 shooting, helping them hold off the Orlando Magic in Minneapolis.

Julius Randle added 22 points and seven rebounds, while Donte DiVincenzo contributed 14 points off the bench. Minnesota secured its seventh consecutive win by outscoring the Magic 40-24 in the fourth quarter.

Paolo Banchero led Orlando with 43 points and 10 rebounds, while Caleb Houstan added 18 points, shooting 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. Franz Wagner also contributed 16 points in the loss.

Nuggets 131, Lakers 126
Jamal Murray sank a go-ahead 3-pointer with 6.2 seconds remaining, helping Denver secure a win over a shorthanded Los Angeles team.

Murray finished with 26 points, Nikola Jokic added 28 points, and Christian Braun contributed 22. Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook each had 17 points, while Michael Porter Jr. chipped in with 13 points for the Nuggets, who faced a Lakers team missing six players.

The Lakers were without LeBron James (hamstring), Jaxon Hayes (knee), Rui Hachimura (knee), and Luka Doncic, who was on injury management for his left calf. Austin Reaves (37 points, 13 assists) and Dalton Knecht (32 points) led the way for Los Angeles, which has now lost four straight games.

Celtics 103, Heat 91
Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 28 points to lead the visiting Boston Celtics to a win over the struggling Miami Heat.

Boston also received 25 points from Jrue Holiday, who shot 10-for-15, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Derrick White played a crucial role for the Celtics, scoring 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and hitting 3-of-5 from deep.

The Heat, now 9-25 against teams with a .500 record or better, have dropped a season-high six straight games. Andrew Wiggins led Miami with 23 points, while Tyler Herro contributed 19 points and a game-high six assists.

Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 27 points as the Pacers earned a road win over a shorthanded Philadelphia squad. Tyrese Haliburton added 14 points and 10 assists for the Pacers, who have now won two straight following a three-game slide.

Jeff Dowtin Jr. scored a career-high 24 points for Philadelphia, which had just eight available players due to injuries. Jared Butler added 17 points, and Adem Bona chipped in 16. The 76ers dropped their sixth game in seven outings and their 15th in 17 games.

Tari Eason scored a career-high 30 points and Jalen Green contributed 23 as Houston cruised past Dallas. Alperen Sengun added 16 points and 15 rebounds to help the Rockets extend their winning streak to five games and improve to 4-0 on their six-game homestand. Houston dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Mavericks 67-34.

Brandon Williams led Dallas with 25 points, and Naji Marshall and Spencer Dinwiddie scored 21 and 20 points, respectively. The Mavericks have lost seven of their last eight games.


Hornets 145, Spurs 134
LaMelo Ball posted 27 points and 15 assists, and Nick Smith Jr. scored 22 of his 26 points in the first half to lead Charlotte to an easy win over San Antonio. The Hornets, who hit 26 3-pointers, led by 26 points at halftime and cruised to their third win in four games.

Miles Bridges added 21 points, Josh Green scored 20, Mark Williams contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Jusuf Nurkic chipped in 14 points. San Antonio dropped its fourth game in five outings, playing its first game without star guard De’Aaron Fox, who was ruled out for the season due to a torn ligament in his left pinkie finger. Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 26 points, and Devin Vassell added 22.


Clippers 121, Hawks 98
James Harden and Kawhi Leonard each scored 25 points to guide Los Angeles past Atlanta for their fifth win in six games. Harden shot 8-for-14, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc, and added eight rebounds and seven assists. Leonard, who missed the Clippers’ Wednesday game for load management, made 11 of 21 field goals and contributed six rebounds and five steals.

The Hawks had their four-game winning streak snapped, with Onyeka Okongwu leading the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds for his 19th double-double of the season. Trae Young added 17 points and seven assists but committed seven turnovers.


Suns 122, Kings 106
Devin Booker recorded 22 points and 13 assists, and Kevin Durant added 22 points and six assists as Phoenix secured a strong win over Sacramento. Tyus Jones came off the bench to score 20 points and hit all six of his 3-point attempts, as the Suns set a season-high with 24 made 3-pointers (on 43 attempts). Phoenix is now 1 1/2 games behind Dallas for the final Western Conference play-in spot.

DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points, and Zach LaVine added 21 for the Kings, who lost their fourth straight. Domantas Sabonis returned from a six-game absence due to a hamstring injury, recording his ninth triple-double of the season.


Raptors 126, Jazz 118
Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley each scored 20 points to help Toronto secure its third consecutive win by defeating Utah. A.J. Lawson added 18 points, and Orlando Robinson finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Barnes also grabbed 10 rebounds in the victory, as the Raptors defeated the Jazz for the second time in a week.

Jordan Clarkson led Utah with 19 points, and Kyle Filipowski contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Jazz extended their losing streak to eight games, and Lauri Markkanen, who scored 16 points in the first half, did not play in the second half.
