Wendy Williams is continuing her fight against her conservatorship.
The 60-year-old talk show host appeared on Good Day New York on Tuesday, March 11, after being removed from her assisted living facility and taken to the hospital the day before. Calling in from the hospital during the live segment, Williams shared that she underwent mental competency tests following her 2023 dementia diagnosis, which she claims did not show any signs of cognitive impairment.
“I passed with flying colors!” Williams declared.
Her caretaker, Ginalia Monterrosa, was present at the hospital and Williams asked her to “elaborate on everything.”
“She had those tests, and she’s been deemed not incapacitated,” Monterrosa told anchor Rosanna Scotto. “I think it’s great news, and it’s public, and everybody knows factually that Wendy’s not incapacitated.”

When Scotto asked if Williams was satisfied with the independent evaluation of her psychological well-being, Williams responded enthusiastically, saying, “Absolutely.”
“That is what I want, and that is what I got,” she added.
Williams expressed her desire to be released from her conservatorship, which was established in 2022, so she can return to living a normal life. She mentioned her plans to “stay in New York” and “go back to work.”
“What will I do?” Williams pondered. “I have options.”
“Getting out of guardianship is my number one priority,” she emphasized. “It’s my A, number one most important thing.”
Monterrosa later disclosed that she was the one who filed a report with Adult Protective Services alleging elder abuse and also contacted the NYPD for a welfare check on Williams. She explained that, since “there isn’t anything right now that legally allows Wendy to bring an attorney on board,” she felt compelled to involve the authorities.

When Scotto asked if Williams would be open to getting a financial advisor and a sober companion, given her past struggles with alcoholism, Williams firmly responded, “I don’t need that. I’m not drinking ever in my life.” She added, “By the way, I’ve had a financial advisor for years. Of course, I’ll get a financial advisor, of course someone to look after my money. The money I have right now is all with my guardian person.”
Williams went on to describe life in what she has previously referred to as “a prison.”
“I’m on the fifth floor, it’s called the memory unit. This is where you go if you don’t remember anything,” she said. “Like, really? And as far as going outside, I’m not allowed. I have to stay in this building.”
She continued, “To go to the gym, which is on the third floor, I have to be permitted. Then, I have someone who works in the building walk me downstairs, and the man who’s working me out is outside to spot me. My money is in the air. This is my life!”
Williams concluded, “I have a landline phone. [It’s] horrible.”
The update follows authorities responding to Williams’ assisted living facility for a welfare check on March 10. A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that she was escorted out of the building and transported by EMS in an ambulance to a local hospital “for evaluation.”
In another appearance on The Breakfast Club on March 11, Williams explained the situation, saying, “The police showed up. I’m exhausted. You know what I’m saying? I wanted to go to the hospital to talk to the doctor.”
She added that she requested an “independent doctor” to conduct the evaluation.
The former talk show host also provided details about the tests she underwent once at the hospital, with Monterrosa claiming Williams answered 10 out of 10 questions correctly. Williams shared, “They asked me simple things like who’s the president? What’s your birth date?”
